Brazilian Café is located inside Brazil Academy and is a bit of a hidden gem. The bright blue and yellow décor, along with the international flags throughout the café, creates a welcoming atmosphere. I happened to visit during the World Cup, so the flags made the atmosphere feel especially fitting. It was also relatively quiet, making it a nice place to stop for coffee or a pastry. The menu isn't huge, but it features Brazilian favorites like pão de queijo (cheese bread), coxinha (chicken croquettes), and Escondidinho de Carne, a Brazilian-style shepherd's pie made with yuca instead of potatoes. They also have coffee, smoothies, frozen take-home items, desserts, and a creative lineup of açaí bowls named after Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu belt colors. I've never had an açaí bowl before, but I'll definitely be trying one next time. I ordered the Beef Yuca Shepherd's Pie to go, and it was still warm when I got home. The crust was flaky and buttery with a savory beef and yuca filling. Honestly, I couldn't tell much of a difference between yuca and potatoes, but if you're a fan of shepherd's pie, this is definitely worth trying. The staff was friendly, and the café was clean, bright, and inviting. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish they had a few more sandwiches or lunch options. I'll definitely be back to try one of the açaí bowls as well as another Beef Yuca Shepherd's Pie.
Great food. Great service!
It’s hard to pass up the opportunity to get a quick fix of Brazilian food! The coxinhas (chicken croquettes) here are so tasty - and they heat them for each order, so they come out piping hot! We also enjoyed an açaí bowl - the “white belt” adds the sweetness of banana and powdered milk without overpowering the flavor of the açaí. It’s all pricey, but where else can you get these in Kansas City area?
I love acai bowls, so I've had a lot of them, and this place has the best. Staff is also super friendly and fast!
The best açaí in Kansas
Best acai bowls in KC. Great atmosphere in the same building as the gym. BJJ practitioners are the kindest, friendliest, and yet most dangerous people you'll ever meet.
Cafe Brazil is a tiny, unassuming café — but don’t let its size fool you. The moment you take your first bite, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported straight to Brazil. The flavors are spot-on, and the food and drinks are absolutely amazing. What stood out most was the açaí — it tasted just like the ones I’ve had in São Paulo. Perfect texture, fresh ingredients, and full of that authentic Brazilian flavor that’s hard to find elsewhere. There’s nothing fancy about the space — no music or decorations — but the food speaks for itself. If you’re craving a genuine taste of Brazil, I definitely recommend stopping by.
This is the best acai bowl I've had in my life. And I've had many acai bowls.
Friendly Staff, Arturo was funny, nice fella, smoothie was awesome! Also the iced “Brazilian Mocha” was fantastic👌🏽
WOW their stuff is absolutely amazing. The coxinha (drumsticks) are a nice, small size and absolutely perfect. And the pão de queijo (cheese bread) sandwich is honestly the best thing anyone has ever invented... and I'm never a huge fan of chocolate cake but oh my LORD IT WAS SO GOOD. The atmosphere is a bit strange but still really welcoming and nice! It's in the same building as a martial arts school which is honestly pretty cool for all the students and teachers!! I'd 100% take lessons here just to have that pão de queijo sandwich every time I was there.
Staff was friendly and helped us decide food items. The atmosphere was nice and the food was excellent!. The espresso coffee was a delight!
Definitely worth visiting. Sweets and food very good. I did avoid the feijoda due to its price, but the Yucca pie was really, really good and better priced. No fountain drinks but plenty of other options. Enjoy!
The food here was so good. The Feijoada was so flavorful and comforting. The beef yuca pie my favorite, it was so creamy and flaky. My Mocha drink was so yummy and perfect for how cold the day was. We also tried an Açai bowl and some desserts. The woman who took our order was so patient with us and answered all our questions. Hands down a very pleasant experience and I can't wait to go back!
